When I began interning at Supercool Creative a few weeks ago, I knew there would soon be serious trouble brewing in our office. Our creative director David is a graduate of USC, while I am a senior at the clearly superior university and cross-town rival, UCLA. Tomorrow our two schools will have their ultimate showdown in the Rose Bowl, and, as a result, the Supercool offices have become a dangerous warzone this week.
To make the stakes even higher, David and I have made a bet. Whoever gets the most people to express their support for their school gets to force the other to wear their opponent’s colors all day tomorrow (and, yes, pictures will be provided). Additionally, the winner gets to paint Supercool’s Twitter their school colors for the week.
I need your help! I’ll be in the student section at the Rose Bowl tomorrow evening proudly cheering on my Bruins, and if I’m forced to don USC attire, there’s no guarantee I’ll make it out alive. I can already hear the mighty UCLA student body angrily glaring at me and repeatedly chanting their favorite reprise, “Take off that red shirt!”
So here’s what I need you to do: simply express that you’re backing UCLA in tomorrow’s confrontation. How can you do this? David and I have devised a system of points. If I earn more points than him, he has to wear the glorious Bruin blue and gold all day tomorrow.
- Leave a comment on this blog post cheering for UCLA. (I get 1 point.)
- Make a tweet with the hashtag #uclaissupercool (or #uscissupercool if you so choose, grumble grumble). (3 points)
- Visit our Facebook page and write on our wall to let us know you support UCLA. (3 points)
- Mention this contest in your blog our on your website (and leave us a comment linking us to it). (10 points)
Conversely, if you, for some odd reason, support USC, do the same to express your support for the Trojans.
Tonight at midnight, we’ll tally up all the points each of us has received. So get on it! I get points even if the same person does all four activities, so do all that you can, please! Keep our Twitter beautiful! Save the UCLA student section from being infiltrated by USC’s colors! Save my life by protecting me from the angry mob! Go go go!
And, more importantly, GO BRUINS!!!
Edit: Whoa, guys, things are getting really heated here. It’s a tight race. Check out what President Obama has to say about the game tomorrow when Larry King asked him about it. Who do you think he’s rooting for?
Edit 2: The results are in, and UCLA wins 145-69! Unfortunately, the result of the football game was a bit different, but we all know which contest really counts anyway, right? Check out our Twitter this week to see its beautiful new colors. As for the photo of David in Bruin colors on Saturday? He followed through with his promise, but an angry mob of USC fans brutally attacked his camera, destroying any evidence. Or at least that’s what he tells us… Thanks for all your support, fellow Bruins!
