How Many Ad Creatives Does Your Mobile Game Need – And How to Beat Creative Fatigue!?

Every UA manager, brand manager, social media content manager and CMO has the same question – and rightfully so!

“How many ad creatives do we actually need?”

The short answer is  – more than you want to make, and fewer than you have to!

The real number depends on three things:

  1. How much you spend

  2. How fast your winners burn out
  3. How many genuinely different ideas you can test at once. The good news is, you don’t have to run that creative pipeline alone – and that’s exactly what we do at Supercool Creative.

⚡ The fast fix: We write and produce your game’s creative from concept to delivery. That means scripts, production, and platform-ready cuts in 6s, 10s, 15s, 30s, and 60s lengths, plus A/B variations and recommendations for your next round of testing. One shoot, many ads. Get a ballpark for your game →

How many mobile game ad creatives do you need per month?

It scales with your spend. Small teams spending under about $50K a month on UA often ship 5-15 new variants monthly, mature programs ship 50-200+ per quarter, and major publishers ship thousands. Sensor Tower data cited by RocketShip puts top mobile gaming advertisers at roughly 70-120 new variants per week.

Definitions vary (concepts vs. variants), so use those as ballparks, not gospel. Here’s a formula that works better:

  1. Test budget ÷ cost per test = how many tests you can fund per month. That ceiling on what you can learn matters more than how many ads you produce.
  2. Tests × ads per concept = how many creatives are worth making.

Example: if you can fund 20 tests a month and each concept has 4 variations (different hooks, endings, or CTAs), that’s about 80 creatives. Initial validation budgets of roughly $100-$300 per creative are common. That example is illustrative, so plug in your own numbers.

Why creative fatigue is so brutal

  • Average creative lifespan has fallen under 5 days in mature markets, and Meta video lifespans dropped from about 14 days in 2024 to 9.2 days in 2026 according to gamegrowthadvisor
  • Winning creatives typically decay 20-40% in IPM over 4-8 weeks of heavy spend according to mwm
  • Fatigue can eat 20-30% of total UA budget for teams that don’t refresh proactively according to layer
  • Over 84,000 mobile game advertisers were active each month in 2025, so your players have seen a lot of ads according to playio

The takeaway: your best ad is already dying.

So, let Supercool Creative start on those UA ads before you need them!

Let’s do this! One concept, many ads

Concepts and variations are different things. A concept is the big idea (“The NPC Who Finally Snaps”). A variation is a new hook, ending, length, or CTA on that idea. Variations are the cheap part, and they’re where UA performance usually gets found. The bottleneck then shifts from “can we make enough?” to “can we test enough?” layer

How to get volume without wrecking your budget

1. Shoot once, cut many. Pro Tip! Plan as many spots as you can into one shoot day. As we say in our production budgets post, we have the crew, locations, and talent for a 12-hour day, so write the creative to fill it. supercoolcreative

2. Mix styles. Gameplay capture with motion graphics is your volume engine, creator-style shoots add authenticity, and live-action with VFX is your hero piece. UGC-style creatives blend into feeds, and users are slower to register them as ads. playio

3. Plan variations upfront. Asking for 6s, 15s, and 30s cuts and alternate hooks before the shoot costs far less than asking after.

4. Kill losers fast. A common rule is to cut creatives that show no promise after about 3 days. layer

5. Keep a pipeline, not a one-shot. Mature UA teams run continuous creative pipelines and ship new variants as old ones fatigue. mwm

What does it cost?

Our published ranges for game trailers, UA creatives and UGC start at $10,000-$25,000 at entry level and $20,000-$250,000 at the professional tier, with high-end work starting at $100,000+.

Most social and digital campaigns take 3-6 weeks from concept to delivery, and trailers can take 6-10 weeks. Shooting multiple ads at once is how you lower the cost per creative. supercoolcreative

FAQ

How many creatives should I test at once?
Enough distinct concepts that you can actually read the results. Use the formula above rather than a fixed number.

How long does a creative last?
It varies by network, genre, and spend. Benchmarks range from under 5 days in mature markets to several weeks of gradual decay.

Does UGC-style content beat fatigue?
It helps, but it isn’t a cure. Mix styles and keep refreshing.

Can Supercool deliver multiple lengths and platform versions?
Yes. We deliver 6s, 10s, 15s, 30s, and 60s cuts with platform-specific versions for TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Snapchat, Unity, and IronSource.
